  Social Traffic Pop requires very little to run. All you need is jQuery, and the associated social SDK’s for Facebook, Google, and Twitter.Step One – Include the Files

To start off, include the STP CSS file, and all of the required javascript files to run Social Traffic Pop in the <head> section of the page(s) you wat STP to appear on.

Note – In this example we load jQuery from the Google Cache, jQuery should be loaded before all other SDKs. You should also note that you only need ONE of each SDK. If you have multiple plugins that use either one of the jQuery, Facebook, Google +, or Twitter SDKs you should make sure you are only using them once as it will cause social plugins to fail.

Step Two – Call the Function

The next step is to call our function when the page is ready. This is also were you will specify your options to customize Social Traffic Pop.

The above example will make an STP popup that runs for 30 seconds and not show a close button. The rest of the values are your messages and teh URLs you want to use with the designated social buttons.

Options & Values

Here are all of the options you can use with Social Traffic Pop and what kind of values you can use with them.

  • title – This is the title of your popup.
  • message – This is the message you want to appear in your popup.
  • closeable – Set to true or false to display a close button in the popup. Default is true.
  • advancedClose – Set to true or false to enabled / disable the ability to click outside of the popup or use the escape key to close the popup. Default is true.
  • opacity – The opacity of the popup background shadow in decimal format. The default value is ’0.3′

// Configuration of Social Buttons

Note that when choosing the URLs for your buttons, the URL must be valid, and it must return a valid header OK code of 200.

  • facebook_on – Set this option to false to disable the Like button.
  • google_on – Set this option to false to disable the Google Plus button.
  • twitter_on – Set this option to false to disable the Twitter buttons.
  • google_url – This is the URL you want to share on Google when the Google + button is pressed.
  • google_annotation – This is the new annotation feature google has made. It controls how the text / count is display. You can supply “inline” to show the number of pluses and some freinds names next to the button, “bubble” to show just the count, or “none” to show the button only.
  • google_size – While using “standard” is highly recomended to keep the look of the plugin you can also supply: “small”, “medium”, and “tall”.
  • fb_url – This is the URL you want to share on Facebook when the Like button is pressed.
  • fb_layout – Choose the layout of the facebook button to use. “button_count” is reccomended but you can also supply “boxy_count” or “standard” for the Like button with annotation.
  • fb_showfaces – Set to true or false to enable / disable the show faces feature.
  • fb_color_scheme – Set to either “light” or “dark” to choose which theme to use.
  • twitter_user – This is the username you want to use when using the twitter Follow button. It MUST be set if you have the twitter_method option set to follow.
  • twitter_method – Set this option to either ‘follow’ or ‘tweet’ to display which twitter button you want. Default is ‘tweet’.
  • tweet_url – Enter a valid URL to use in your tweet. This URL will be appended to your tweet and will act as the URL that the counter works for. You can leave this blank to use the current page or set one manually.
  • tweet_text – Enter the predefined, optional text to use in your tweet.
  • tweeted_by – False by default, you can set this option to true to use the tweeted by feature, the username in the twitter_user option will be used for this.

// Configuration of Timers

  • timeout – This is how long you want the popup timer to run for before it closes itself. Default is 25 seconds.
  • wait – This is the number of minuets you want to wait between showings of the popup. For example, if set to ’3′ the popup will only show every 3 minuets the user is on the site. You can also set this value to ’0′ (zero) to show the popup on every page load until the user completes a social action.
  • delay – Set to ’0′ by default, set this timer to the number of seconds you want the page to wait before showing the popup. For example if set to 10, the user will be on the page reading, browsing etc. for 10 seconds before the popup is shown.
